2012 Skillsoft Perspectives is off to a great start. Jack Phillips' presentation, "Show Me the Money: How to Determine ROI in People, Projects, and Programs" was packed and the audience was really engaged. Participants in the New Marketing Paradigm workshop also reported leaving with valuable ideas. We've already collected some wonderful customer testimonials as well-we're grateful that people are willing to share how they've leveraged Skillsoft content, service, and experience to solve their business problems.

The evening wrapped up with a welcome reception on the poolside terrace. Perspectives attendees enjoyed great food and entertainment, as well as the chance to connect with colleagues. We're proud to welcome so many guests to our largest Perspectives event yet.

General Stan McChrystal's keynote, Plywood Leadership: Lessons on Leadership from a Warrior, Statesman, and Scholar, sparked some wonderful discussion about the characteristics of leaders and the changing face of leadership. In addition, General McChrystal recognized the U.S. Army, our 2012 Innovation in Learning Program of the Year.

The panel discussion Going Global and Implementing Local led to some great conversations as well. We're grateful to all our speakers for sharing their experience and encouraging learning and development professionals to think about challenges in new and innovative ways. The day concluded with the Innovation in Learning Awards Gala, where we recognized more than a dozen outstanding learning programs. The evening also included a tribute to John Scott from Emerson Electric, longtime Skillsoft customer and well-respected learning leader, who passed away unexpectedly in December. Nick Van Dam, Director and Chief Learning Officer in Global Talent for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (DTTL), delivered the awards keynote with inspiring stories about how the eLearning for Kids Foundation is having an impact in areas of the world where children have limited access to education. The evening recognized many inspiring individuals and organizations who are making a difference through their dedication to learning. The responses to SkillPort® 8 have been great so far - we're glad to hear that people love the new look, feel, and functionality. The CLO panel discussion on Cracking the Code on Agility and Innovation Through Learning gave participants a new perspective on how learning can drive business results and create nimble, adaptable, free-thinking cultures.

Other presenters stressed the importance of executive buy-in in creating a culture that truly values learning. Juli Rochon of Nuance Communications and Linda Hill with CIBC both touted the importance of top-level support for learning-and offered tips on how to get that support. Michael Milbier and Cara Morgan of GLOBALFOUNDRIES shared lessons learned from their journey implementing learning and performance management simultaneously amidst changes in senior management, resource reductions, and budget cuts. There have been so many powerful take-aways from the last few days that we can't possibly share them all here, but we hope you'll look for these presentations on Client Community soon so you can help innovate, motivate, and learn within your own organization.

We're down to the final day of 2012 Skillsoft Perspectives. We're glad so many people could join us this year-we've captured some truly remarkable stories about the power of Skillsoft in helping organizations transform through learning. To keep the conversation going, today's workshops offer tips on building blended learning programs, finding the right governance model, promoting learning within the organization, and measuring learning's impact and value. Workshops also give guests the chance to explore SkillPort 8 and build a better understanding of LMS systems.

While we'll be sad to see everyone leave Orlando, we're eager to see conference participants put what they've learned into practice.
