Elliott Masie Futurist on Technology, Learning & People

Elliott Masie is an internationally recognized futurist, analyst, researcher and humorist on the critical topics of technology, business, learning and workplace productivity. He is the editor of Learning TRENDS by Elliott Masie, an Internet newsletter read by over 46,000 business executives worldwide, and a regular columnist in professional publications. He is the author of a dozen books, including the recently authored free digital book called My Most Memorable Teacher (or Trainer). He is the convener of Learning 2006.

He heads The MASIE Center, a Saratoga Springs, NY, think tank focused on how organizations can support learning and knowledge within the work force. He leads the Learning Consortium, a coalition of 226 Fortune 500 companies cooperating on the evolution of learning strategies, including Target, UPS, National Security Agency, BP International, Sears, Bank of America and the U.S. Departments of Defense and Labor.

Elliott's professional focus has been in the fields of corporate learning, organizational performance and emerging technology. He has developed models for accelerating the spread of knowledge, learning and collaboration throughout organizations. Elliott is acknowledged as the first analyst to use the term e-learning and has advocated for a sane deployment of learning and collaboration technology as a means of supporting the effectiveness and profitability of enterprises.

Elliott serves as an advisor to a wide range of government, education and non-profit groups. He serves on the boards of trustees of several colleges, as a board member of national organizations and is a member of the Executive Committee of Operation Respect, an anti-bullying education project. He serves as a pro-bono advisor to the Department of Defense and was appointed by the president to the White House Advisory Council on Expanding Learning Opportunities.

Elliott is known as a highly approachable speaker and trainer, blending humor, applicable stories of best practice and high levels of audience involvement. Over the past 25 years he has presented programs, courses and speeches to over 1,600,000 professionals around the world. He lives in Saratoga Springs, owns thoroughbred horses, and travels extensively each year.

Rita Bailey is widely sought after for her unique infusion of gifts. In addition to customer service, she specializes in the areas of culture, leadership, people success strategies and women's issues. Rita is considered a champion of possibility and delivers the message, if you put people first profits will follow.

When asked what type of business she's in, Rita's answer is, “the people business.” As CEO and founder of QVF Consultants, Rita works with organizations and individuals who are serious about creating people focused relationships and cultures. She shares her expertise and resources to help develop environments where people can do and be their best. She passionately believes that every workplace can be a positive place to work. As an international speaker and consultant, she has presented to groups in Europe, Mexico, Brazil and Australia on topics including people success strategies, leadership, innovation, culture, branding, and customer service.

During her 25-year career at Southwest Airlines, Rita served in several positions, including customer service, sales and marketing, public relations and HR. In her last role as director of the University for People, she was responsible for the design, development and implementation of leadership and personal development programs for over 32,000 employees. She also established a career development services team, responsible for helping employees develop a career path.

Rita has served on several advisory committees and boards and currently serves as the 2005 chair of the 70,000 member ASTD (American Society of Training & Development), working with learning leaders worldwide.

She has often been interviewed and quoted in publications such as Harvard Business Review, Business Week, Corporate Meetings and Incentives and Wall Street Journal on topics of recruiting and training practices.

She holds a bachelor degree in business and several training and HR certificates. She received Southwest Airlines President's Award for outstanding achievement twice. Rita lives the philosophies that if you put people first, profits will follow and that work can be FUN!

Author The Workforce Scorecard: Managing Human Capital to Execute Strategy

Dr. Mark Huselid is professor of HR strategy in the School of Management and Labor Relations (SMLR) at Rutgers University. His research, teaching and consulting activities are focused on the development of balanced measurement systems to reflect the contribution of the work force, work force management systems and the HR management function to strategy execution and business success.

Mark was the editor of the Human Resource Management Journal from 2000-2004, and is a current or former member of many academic and professional boards. The recipient of numerous awards for his research, he is among the most highly cited scholars in the organizational sciences. He is also a frequent speaker to professional and academic audiences, having delivered more than 400 presentations throughout the U.S., Europe, Africa and Asia. In addition, Mark consulted on the topics of HR measurement and HR strategy with dozens of companies around the world.

His first book, The HR Scorecard: Linking People, Strategy & Performance (with Brian Becker and Dave Ulrich) has been translated into 10 languages and is an international bestseller.
